Visit of the Director of the Institute for Asian Studies

KAU hosted a guest lecture by Sultan Akimbekov, a renowned historian, political scientist, and Director of the Institute for Asian Studies. The event was organized with the support of the Astana Diplomatic Club and focused on the topic “The Middle East in a Period of Turbulence.”

As part of the visit, President of KAU Assylbek Issakhov met with the guest. The parties discussed prospects for academic cooperation and emphasized the importance of engaging the country’s leading intellectuals in the university’s educational process to help students develop a strong analytical foundation.

During the lecture, the speaker presented an in-depth analysis of the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, demonstrating how historical processes continue to influence contemporary conflicts. As the author of numerous works on the history of the Steppe and Central Asia, he also shared his expert view on the challenges facing the region amid global instability.

The meeting was held in an open dialogue format. Students had a valuable opportunity to ask questions about international politics, analytical work, and the skills required to understand complex historical and political trends.
