KAU Joins GitHub Education
Kazakh-American University (KAU) has joined GitHub Education, an international initiative that provides students and faculty with access to professional solutions for software development, collaborative work, and the acquisition of modern technology skills.
Participation in the program expands KAU’s digital learning environment and enables the integration of services widely used by developers and technology teams around the world into the educational process.
Once their academic status has been verified, students can access a range of benefits, including GitHub Copilot Student, an AI-powered coding assistant; the Student Developer Pack, which provides educational resources and special offers from technology companies; and Codespaces, a cloud-based development environment.
These solutions help students develop practical skills in version control, repository management, and collaborative software development, participate in team-based projects, and build a professional portfolio while completing their studies.
The new opportunities are particularly relevant for KAU’s IT programs. Assignments and projects can be completed in a digital environment that closely reflects real-world processes in the technology industry. This approach supports the development of applied competencies and helps prepare future professionals for their careers.
Faculty members also gain access to dedicated services designed to support the teaching process. In particular, GitHub Classroom makes it possible to create individual and group programming assignments, distribute them among course participants, monitor progress, and use automated assessment tools.
Verified educators can also use Copilot Pro when working with code, preparing teaching materials, and supporting project-based learning.
GitHub is one of the most widely used platforms in modern software development. Working with it enables students to become familiar with open-source principles, gain experience in team collaboration, and develop practices that are in demand across the IT industry.
Joining GitHub Education continues KAU’s efforts to develop a technology-driven and practice-oriented educational environment in which digital solutions form an integral part of professional training.
To access the available benefits, students and faculty members need to have a personal GitHub account and complete academic verification. Verification may require a university email address or documentation confirming current study or employment at KAU.
