KAU expands cooperation in English language education and academic exchange

Kazakh-American University held a working meeting with Regional English Language Officer Kim Chilmonik, Public Engagement Specialist Zhanna Toktarova, and English Language Coordinator Nurgul Zhanabayeva.

The discussion focused on opportunities to strengthen English-language education, faculty development at KAU through U.S.-supported educational programs.

Among the initiatives discussed were English Language Fellows, English Language Specialists, Fulbright programs, as well as professional development opportunities for English-language teachers. The parties also explored possible formats for bringing international experts to KAU for short- and longer-term academic engagements, including teaching, workshops, faculty training, and institutional capacity building.

Special attention was given to areas that could create practical impact for KAU, including English Medium Instruction (EMI), Content-Based Instruction, modern approaches to English language teaching, and the integration of new technologies and AI into the academic environment.

The meeting also addressed potential models of institutional cooperation and co-funding that could support future programs and expert visits.

KAU looks forward to identifying concrete initiatives that can be implemented together and to expanding opportunities for both faculty and students through international educational programs.
