KAU Students Visited the Museum of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Ahead of Kazakhstan’s National Currency Day and Independence Day, students of Kazakh-American University visited the Museum of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan and took part in an educational экскурсия.
The tour was led by Gauhar Sangulova, Head of the Museum of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, who presented the history of monetary circulation in Kazakhstan — from the first coins of the Great Silk Road to the modern tenge, a symbol of the country’s independence.
The museum exhibition featured rare coins and banknotes, ancient artifacts from Otrar, Taraz, and Saraishyq, exhibits from the Soviet era, archival documents, banking uniforms, and historical financial equipment.
Particular interest was drawn to the sections dedicated to the introduction of the national currency — the tenge in 1993 — and modern Kazakhstani commemorative coins recognized internationally.
After the экскурсия, National Bank employee Gulzhan delivered a lecture on financial literacy, introducing students to new banknotes and demonstrating the security features of paper currency.
Students from the following groups participated in the event: PD-24-1,2,3; MO-24-3,4,5; AiNK-24-1,2; AiNK-23-1,2; IIBiT-25-1.
The students were accompanied by KAU advisor and assistant professor Azhiguzhayeva A.B.
The visit became an important educational experience that helped broaden students’ understanding of economics and finance.
