Professor Paul Kim at KAU: A Step Toward the Future of Technology and Creativity

On November 26, Kazakh-American University hosted an inspiring meeting with Dr. Paul Kim — Chief Technology Officer and Associate Dean of the Stanford Graduate School of Education, a world-renowned expert in educational technologies.

For students, this became a unique opportunity to learn firsthand how to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving world of technology and artificial intelligence.

Special attention was given to the SMILE (Stanford Mobile Inquiry-based Learning Environment) project — an innovative platform transforming education through mobile technologies.

After the lecture, Dr. Kim conducted a practical workshop based on his SMILE ASK design-thinking methodology. Participants worked on solving real-world challenges while developing creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.

The event brought together not only KAU students but also students and faculty from KBTU, Turan University, Narxoz University, and Satbayev University.

During the workshop, Dr. Kim organized a team competition, and the winners received an incredible prize — a trip to Beijing or Los Angeles personally sponsored by Paul Kim.

This meeting became more than just an event — it marked the beginning of new international educational initiatives and cooperation between Dr. Kim’s team and universities in Kazakhstan.
