International Summer School at KAU: Highlights from Days Two and Three

The program of the International Summer School “Diplomacy of the Future: International Relations in the Digital Era” continues at KAU. Days two and three became a natural continuation of the eventful start.

The second day began with a lecture delivered by KAU faculty members on the key topics of the program. The participants then visited the United Nations Office in Almaty, where they had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the work of one of the key international organizations.

In the afternoon, a lecture was delivered by Gulistan Khamzayeva, a Kazakhstani diplomat, linguist, and writer. Her presentation, titled “Kazakh Tea Ceremony”, focused on an integral part of the cultural code of the Kazakh people, bringing together traditions of hospitality, etiquette, and centuries-old history. The day concluded with a visit to the A. Kasteyev National Museum of Arts, one of the largest art museums in Central Asia, home to a rich collection of Kazakh and world fine art.

The third day was dedicated to in-depth academic work. Two lecture blocks covered current issues in diplomacy and international relations. After lunch, the participants went on a city tour: the Ykhlas Museum of Kazakh Folk Musical Instruments, Green Bazaar, the “Rakhat” retail shop, and the Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen allowed the guests to get a closer look at the history and everyday life of Almaty.

The program continues with new lectures, meetings with experts, and further opportunities to explore the city ahead.
